VS9 Capture problems

Post by Trikie »

So far I have spent a total of about 3 hours working with VS9 since buying it. Have put a few clips into the Editor to get the feel of it. Everything worked OK (at a very basic level) and am now trying to start a short project.

Its a Panasonic NV-EX1 (steam driven?) camcorder and XP SP1 with a firewire connection.

I tried the Movie Wizard but got a message "Capture Module initialization failed. Failed to build a preview graph". I've looked at some of the previous forum entries and have given up.

Switched to Editor and recorded one clip. Then went to Edit and back to Capture where I got the message "Either no video capture driver is installed or no device is connected."

Nothing has been changed since capturing the first clip and the camera has not powered off .

Is this a random fault or what?

How do you connect the camcorder to the PC?

You might also update XP to SP2

Why did you buy UVS 9.0 when 10.0 is out?

Because it was cheaper and does all that I need.

I hope you are not inferring that my very basic problem is a particular feature of VS9

Sorry Vidoman, I didn't see your earlier reply.

Is this problem definitely linked only to XP with SP1?

Thanks sjj1805 (or may I call you Steve?)

I'll start a new project following your tutorial and see if it does the trick. Will report back late tomorrow.
