other question on uninstalling photo-explorer 8.0

Post by flow »

hello

i have another question on unsinstalling photo explorer 8.0
(this version came with my traveler-digicam)

i use win 98 and uninstallation worked fine.

but after uninstallation i tried to open an *.jpg - file and windows tried to open the ulead-viewer and could not find it - and asked for the program-location

formar binding of *.jpg was NOT restored from deinstallation :(

moreover: in explorer/extras/ordneroptionen/dateitypen i could not finde an entry for the *.jpg (the other *.jpeg/jpg entries leading to internetexplorer and microsoft-fotoeditor i found there i deleted as system tried still to call ulead-viewer)

some suggestions ? where is the entry for binding *.jpg to ulead-viewer ?

many thanks

The easiest method of associating a file type (jpg) with a certain program
(ulead-viewer) is to find one of those file types in windows explorer, right click and select open with.

There is an option to "Always use this program to open files of this type"

many thanks for your answer, but:

on right-clicking such a file the option "open with" is NOT offered :-(

there is only open, print, ... (but NO open-with)

(and my intention is to de-asociate filetype jpg with ulead-viewer)

has anybody some other hints ?

thanks

You haven't completed your system specifications on your profile page.
Are you using XP or another operating system?

If you're using XP and don't have "Open with" when right clicking a file from windows Explorer then copy and paste the following into notepad.
Save the file as openwith.reg and then double click the saved file to enter it into the windows registry.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Unknown\shell\openas\command]
@=hex(2):25,53,79,73,74,65,6d,52,6f,6f,74,25,5c,73,79,73,74,65,6d,33,32,5c,72,\

Hi Flow,

I have a comptuer that I still run Win98se on it. To re-associate the File Types Go to My Computer>C:. Then Click on View>Folder Options. When that opens up click on the File Types tab. Scroll down to find the extension .jpg, .jpeg. Highlight it, then click on Edit. Now you should see where you can set the Open With what ever program you want to use to open files with that extension.

Hope that helps..

Please update your system specifications in your profile page.

We then simply push your system button at the bottom of your posts to obtain these things.

If I remember correctly, in Win98 you hold down the shift key while you right click on the JPG file to get the "open with" choice.
