I have just downloaded the trial of VS8 (I currently us VS7).
One of the things that I heard about vs8 was that it would have a (or some) menu templates that were more like what you see on a commercial DVD...
One button with a lable like - "play move"
Another button with a lable like - "scene idex"
NO THUMBNAILS on this main menu. Thumbnails with chapter links should be accessed by selecting "scene index" from above, which takes you to another screen to select by chapter.
I don't see any menu templates like this in the trial version.
Do you get a template like I described when you get the full version?
Thanks,
Kay

Yes Kay, you can do this with UVS8 in the "Share" section. You get several templates which you can modify/adapt according to various other provided templates. You can for example change the background picture and music, the texts and the positioning and number of thumbnails on your menu.
You cannot fully customise them according to your wishes (but would you relly expect much more for <100€ ?), for this you need another software, but you get already some interesting possibilities.

DVD Menus
Thanks for the replies. But I just want some clarification, please.....
Since I already blew most of my software budget for the year on photoshop CS, I am not interested in buying another photo editiing program, just to customize the menus.
I have already seen, and used with vs7, the ability to change backgrounds and add music to the menus. I mainly want to be sure I can have two "text" entries on the Main Menu, one for playing the dvd from the beginning, the other for going to a scene or chapter index. No thumbnails on the main menu.
Can this be done without buying photoimpact? If so, it would have been REALLY nice if they had included this with the trial version, so that I wouldn't be worried about spending $50 US for an upgrade that doesn't do what I am looking for.
Thanks again
Kay
