Post by sirbigun »

Hello people i hope u can help i will probably be on here very often i have just purchased media studio pro, i work at a day centre for people with physical disabilities and we have just started a video group.

I have put a title on the video track to run for 20seconds, now i put a bubbles video filter onto this, the video filter plays for as long as the title can some1 explain simply how to set the video filter to run for say 10secsonds instead of the 20seconds of the title. i hope i have explained this correctly

It depends what your title clip is doing. If it is static, just have two, 10-second copies of the clip, one with the bubble filter applied, and one without.

If the title is animated in any way, you have the problem of matching the speed and position of the text if you use two clips. So you need to set a keyframe at the 10-second point in the filter, then move back a frame and set another keyframe. Now, you have four keyframes for the duration of the clip. Select the last keyframe, right click it and select "copy". Select the second keyframe, right click it and select "paste". Select the last keyframe (again), and drag all the sliders as far to the left as they will go under both the "Basic" and "Advanced" tabs. This is as close as you'll get to turning off the bubble effect completely. Copy this keyframe and paste it to the third keyframe.

Heres two methods though there are others.

Method 1.
Split the Title into 2 segments and apply the bubbles filter just to one.

Method 2.
Keep the title as one segment but customize the Bubbles filter.
Press Ctrl+8 to activate the effects manager and now use the option to set keyframes.

Your method 2 will work, as described, only in v. 8.n as effects manager is absent in earlier versions. However, you can do the same by right-clicking the title, selecting video filter and editing it.
