Prolonging Title clips...?
I don't know how to title this but what I'm trying to achieve is a black background with a title clip that has a typewriter affect that would say...

The shorter the clip, the faster the title clip occurs. However, what if I wanted to keep the text there for a few more seconds then a transition would occur to the next clip.
If I lengthen the title clip, the typewriter effects is slower but once the text are completed, it goes to the next clip immediately. In other words, not giving the audience enough time to read the entire thing and digest it. Instead they are waiting for the typewriter effect to finish and then once complete, it's gone and onto the next clip.
I hope I explained myself well enough.

nutsnbolts,
When I want to do this, I create an image of the final view, in your case with the text complete. Then I insert this image as a clip after the clip with the typerwrite effect. Set the duration for as long as you want.
Others may have better suggestions, but this works for me.
Good luck.

I thought about this. Thinking creatively, I figured this was the way to do it. On the other hand, I thought that there was an easier way. It just doesn't make sense to be able to do an animation on the text and have it disappear? I mean what would be the purpose?
A general rule that someone told me is that if you are to display text on screen, the length of time is determined by how long an audience is able to read it normally.

Any reason why Freeze frame, on the last frame doesn't work?

OK, no problem. Render your title into a new Created file and freeze-frame the rendered version. It works, I just tried it and it's seamless. You can do this in a secondary timeline which you can delete once you have created the new file.

Devil..
Excuse me for being green. I understand that you want me to render the title. If I got this correctly, you want me to render just the title while it's on the second timeline?
You may need to walk me through this. Meanwhile, trying to figure out how to do what you have told me. I'll await your reponse.

Title on second timeline with bells and whistles.
File|Create|Video file, using your project settings, naming it, e.g., title.avi in any convenient directory
Go to Main timeline
Import video file title.avi and place it where you want it.
Select and place playhead over last frame.
Right-click and click on Freeze frame
Adjust the duration of the frozen bit to suit.
Ergo, ecce igitur.

Not sure if I nunderstand right, but is it:
Typewriter text apear a preferred lenght, then dissapears, not leaving enought time to read it. If so what I do is this.
1. I create the clip (no effect) then copy it next to original.
2. Put the typewriter effect on the first clip, given effect and speed.
3. It is then followed by the "no effect" clip with the same text.
4. The second can be left for as long as I want, can get a transition to fade into the next scene, etc.
If I understood correctly, it might do the job.
