I can't seem to find anything on this and am wondering if it's possible. I have located how to encoded using wmv8, but not audio... I need to be able to do both under version 8 codecs for client compatibility.
Thanks
wma8 encoding support?

If you mean you need to create a wma audio file in addition to the wmv file which should contain audio then go to "Share" >>> "Create Sound File" (left of preview window) then choose wma as your out put option - UVS8 appears to render your movie at this point - let it happen it is extracting your sound file.

What i'm having to do currently is download the old wm8eutil (wm 8 encoder as you suggested) and use ulead to decompress a wm 9 file to avi and then recompress in dos... It would be alot easier if you could just choose the wma8 codec within ulead's application. If anyone knows how to incorporate a codec, please let me know.

thanks, but I tried WME 9 and couldn't figure out a way to encode using both the wmv/wma 8 codecs into wmv format. I believe it only allows you to do wma/wmv 9 codecs when encoding a movie with that version. I currently am using wme 8 which is a dos command utility that microsoft released. If you know how to do it with wme 9, please let me know.

Sorry, I was looking at the video 8 codecs I have installed on my comp and your right they will only allow you to use wma9. But they should be backwards compatible.... http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... ility.aspx
If not there's codec only installations for previous versions of Windows Media player here you can direct them too... http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... nload.aspx
If you absolutley need to use WMA8 you could try uninstalling all media player and encoder programs and the codecs and reinstalling a previous version.
