Hi
I am a novice at video editing and have just upgraded from Video Studio 6 (Basic) a neat simple program to Video Studio 9. I have many queries but most can be answered using the tutorials. My present difficulty is importing video clips to the time line. Firstly there seems to be a limit to the number of clips that can be imported at any one time but my main problem is that the program insists on rearranging the order of the clips as they are being opened. The dialogue box tells you this is going to be done but there appears to be no way to stop it. I therefore end up with a scrambled set of clips which take ages to resort as the original numbers have been lost.

Hi Trevor
Thanks for such a rapid and detailed reply. I am always amazed that someone out there will always have an answer.
I have briefly looked at your work around but it will take my senile brain (77years) a little time to understand the procedure. Why has Ulead made something obvious so difficult. I had previously tried downloading as one clip without the split by scene option and then splitting afterwards but I find this makes editing difficult as, although the clips are shown separately on the storyboard, highlighting each one for editing does not seem to allow the cropping option to work on the clip as the whole project is encompassed by the in and out markers even when clip option is chosen below the screen!!

Not quite sure what your doing but once you have split your video up it should be quite possible to crop and split each individual clip exactly as you want to.
I prefer in fact to capture as one big file and split and cutout/delete bits as I go along - please have a look at the 'Edit in timeline' page of my website.

There is an easier solution to sorting video clips. Thanks to Ken for the prompt.
1 / Create a new video library page. Insert all clips to the library, any order.
2 / Sort by date, click the button marked A/Z.
All clips should be in order of capture. Easy.
Drag clips from library to timeline
