Have you tried installing this:
http://www.smartsound.com/support/Quick ... er3027.exe
You have to run it twice.
First run will remove the auto music plug in
Second run installs the updated version.

I GOT SHUT OFF ...

Post by ridave »

when up dating quick time... it now comes bundled with that crap (sorry to music makers) called iTUNES ... such a hog and pain ... I don't want to be forced, harrased, and dominated to buy music I dont' want or need and never want to hear ...
BUT ...
As stated before ... the quick track installer IS NOT FOR VS ver10 PLUS

get rid of any QUICK TIME on your computer ... (uninstall)

then let VS 10 PLUS install ...

when you add the content pack ... a version of quick time ... sans crap ... and the .sds files and the installer ... loads perfectly ... and QUICK TRACK ...the free files WORK PERFECTLY ... now all ya have to do is spend the 20 dollars or more for each royalty track offered ...

as long as your not selling your home movies ... cant ya just use your own CD library of tunes to backround one endevours. ???

agian thanks for the help ... will be looking for more tips here soon

I agree about the Apple move to bundle Quicktime player with i-Tunes. However, they do at least provide a way of only downloading Quicktime. But, like a lawyer, it is hidden in the fine print! Once you go to the Apple site and manoeuvre your way to the Quicktime download page (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html), you ignore the free download side of the page (the left half), and go over to where they talk about upgrading to Quicktime Pro. There is a big Upgrade Now button, but below that are several bits of small print, the first of which is 'Quicktime Stand-alone installer'. Follow the link and you get only Quicktime.

And yes, of course you can use your own music collection to provide background music. SmartSound's discs, at US$100 a pop, are just a bit much for the average video enthusiast! There are only a couple of things to bear in mind. First, of course, you have to trim your own music to fit the video (I use Nero Wave Editor for this, but any audio editor is fine). SmartSound's chief selling point is that you can choose the piece of their music you want, and then tell it exactly how long you want it, and it will do this, with a proper ending at the right time, rather than, as often happens when you are cutting and pasting your own music, with a fade-out or sudden ending half way during a song...

The other thing is that some people have trouble when they use mp-3 music recorded using particular mp-3 codecs. Lame codec is one such potential problem. But changing the mp-3 to .wav format usually resolves any problem. Again, I use a wave editor for this. Ironically, Nero uses Lame for mp-3s, but it is another Nero product, the wave editor, which gets round it!
