Insufficient Memory?

Post by onetdbear »

I'm trying to apply frames to a .jpg image in PI10, and keep getting "insufficient memory" messages. Since I have 2GB of RAM in an Athlon X2 system running XP Professional, I have trouble believing that I have less memory than required! I also use Photoshop CS2 and have just finished working on a 25 MB .PSD image comprising 12 layers. No memory issues there.

Oh yes, I've shut down all other programs and Task Manager shows no other processes running.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

You may have set a memory limit in preferences but your problem will mostlikely be related to the available space for your temp files. Clearing out the temp folders used by PI should clear this error.

Is the frames effect one of Uleads or Adobes? Some Adobe effects do not work with AMD cpus when opened in Ulead.
If running an AMD X2, what video card and driver Version number are you running? There is a known issue with card driver versions and X2s.

Thanks for both replies. I'm using an Nvideo GeForce 6600 video card with 256MB of RAM and the latest (8.4.2.1) driver software.

As for emptying the temp files, I'm embarrassed to say that I'm not sure where these are located. I did check my paging file and set it at 4096MBMin/8192MB Max on my F: drive.

In PI 10

"File Menu>Preferences>General>System" will show you the location of your temp files. You can also specify other locations for these.
