Hi Skier
At the moment I use an ADS tech DVD Express device and Capwiz. I can capture in MPEG2 no problem - Ok it isn't firewire.
I suggestion I received from a friend was to try to convert my MPEG to an AVI using VS9. The experiment resulted in a 6 second lip synch problem. I don't understand that, as there was no PAL > NTSC conversion going on, just MPEG to AVI. The idea was that once in AVI then conversion to NTSC woudl be safer and easier.
Maybe I didn't set it up properly ??
My properties were:
format: AVI - Open DML
Uncompressed
24 bits, 720x576
audio: PCM
Many Thanks for your help

Have I read the Procoder Express website wrong ? You seem pretty confident that it sdoes actually include PAL > NTSC conversion as well.
thanks again - Vince
quick supplimentary Skier - this Express product is only about $60 which is great compared to the $350 for Procoder2. However, looking ont he website there is no mention of PAL>NTSC conversion within Express. Ok for $60 no one shoud complain - once it is in a good quality AVI format I coud use PureMotion ($150) to get the AVI from PAL to NTSC.If so, you need to buy Canopus procoder Express. This is a cut down version of procoder 2, but will do the same conversion of PAL to NTSC, but is more manually worked than the parent version.

hELLO Ok More problems i can capture but with loads of frame dops (less than a min capturing i got 385 frame drops - under two mins capture i got 1555 fram drops) also wont capture any sound!!!skier-hughes wrote:Choose dv, which I hope stands for the standard of "digital video" and should give you a dv-avi file.
Test with a very short capture of just a few seconds.
This should also capture the sound.
You should then forget about all the other settings as capturing as a dv-avi means that you won't get a choice of bitrates or audio file type.
dv-avi in PAL should be 720x576.
Have had alook at all the sound settings with in windows and they all seem to be ok can play music though windows media can use the mic and record the mic put trying to capture the sound from the camcorder just dont work I think it may be down to the Matrox card but not sure
Hmmmm
Any feed back would be great.
