Trouble with capture MF 3.5

Post by M1dn1ghtR1der »

I run Windows 2000 pro service pack 4 Intel Celeron 1.80GHz 30 gig hd with 256 mg memory.

After tapeing my sons baseball games that run at least 1 hr i come home to capture and burn to DVD. The capture runs fine till the end when i get no transcode dump and MF 3.5 locks. When i go to the file that holds the captured video at times it has captured the entire hour of video, but most of the time it will only capture half of it, sometimes even only 9 or 10 mins of it. Once exiting the program i get the error msg:

"The Instruction at "0x690a1981" referenced memory at "0x690a1981" memory could not be "read" Click OK to terminate the program."

MF 3.5 came in a bundle with a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-108 and for the 1st 6 months i had no trouble till now.

I use a JVC Digital Video Camera and JVC mini DV tapes. My conection to pc is a fire wire and fire wire card.

At 30GB hard disk space, I hazard to guess your sytem is running out of storage space. How much is left free on this HDD? When did you defrag last?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I kinda figured that it would be a hd space issue but i havent had this prob prior to the last few weeks. There is only a foruth of the hd used when i start the capture. I did a defrag right when i started haveing this trouble and to no avail. Perhaps i should break the capture into two sesions. We use my wifes pc for this as we dont have a DVD burner on mine even thou i have the bigger hd (80 gig). I have another 30 gig that i can put in her pc but with 3 boys and sports im lucky to find time turn it on let alone work on it.

If I decied to chunk up the capture can i still create a DVD like i would if i just did an entire capture? ig i tape a baseball game and then search for each inning to make a chapter selection. Would i still be able to paste the 2 or 3 streams of video together and make them into a single moive just like a full 1 hr capture?

sorry i only now noticed your an Aussie, instead of one forth of the hd how about 8 gig used prio to capture, that leaves roughly 22 gig free.
