UPDATE:cannot find Ulead DVD Movie Factory on your system
Hi,
I noticed that there was unsolved issue on that forum with version 4.
I get the same error while updating ( my version is 3 ).
Is it a way to get the UPDATE right ?
My windows (W2K) is on E: drive , 3rd physical disk. I just upgraded my burner to dual layer and need this patch. How to tell the patch - find it ?
I put my patch inside the installed E:/programs/Ulead directory the same issue.
Thanks for your help.

You must have received the same download I did. Except mine is the 4.0 version. And no, its not the SE or whatever BS product that updates don't work on. I've been trying 3 months to get this POS to work. I haven't found any help at all on this forum to solve any problems. Good luck, I've about had it with this product. I've notide all day, you haven't got any responses. There must be something in the update that looks in your registry to verify installation. Unfortunately, the downloaded Movie Factory does not install anything in your registry. I've tried everything I can think of to reinstall this POS and get the updates to recognize it. It would be nice if Hauppauge would provide an update, since this is a shared problem. But don't count on it. I've got about as good a response from their tech support as I have from Ulead.

Installing Operating systems and program files elsewhere than drive "C" often causes problems.

I didnt say installing on a different partition WILL create problems I said that installing onto a different partion CAN create problems.
To expand on this statement:
Computer programs are written by people.
We rely upon those computer programmers taking into account a variety of matters including the fact that an end user might choose to install to a drive other than the default C drive. Most but not all programmers take this into account.
This reminds me of the two years that I was a member of a group of people comprised of Senior members of various Local authority Departments, The Police, Fire Brigade and Ambulance services, plus a number of Large Private Sector Organisations considered to be at risk.
This was in relation to what was termed "The Millenium Bug."
Problems that would have been caused due to the Millenium Bug had it not been for 2 years of research and re-progamming of a variety of computerised services included lifts, traffic lights, electricity supply, water supply, street lighting and a whole host of other like systems.
The Millenium bug was largely due to early day computers having limited amounts of hard drive and/or RAM and so using 2 digits to represent the year instead of 4 was at the time a big saving.
Suprisingly though even when the RAM/Hard drive etc limitations were no longer an issue, many computer programmers still failed to take into account the imminent arrival of the year 2000.
The same is true of computer programmers failing to take into account that not everyone will install to their default C drive.

I'm having the same problem. Recently purchased a Pioneer DVD drive and Ulead suite of products came with it. I let it install to the default directory that the software picked. The DVD player 2.0 has no sound, drive works fine playing DVD through Windows Media Player. Anyway, I downloaded the update for MovieFactory 4.x but it says it can't find it installed on my system. Any suggestions??

Pioneer's fix is to point you to a zipped file to download from thier support site, it was 52mb. It turned out to be InterVideo WinDVD5 instead of a patch to the Ulead DVD player.

SteveCMI, removed your link because that's a commercial product only for registered users of the Pioneer product.
It was a nice gesture of you to post it for others to benefit, sorry, I still had to remove the link though.
