Captured sound is to soft - part 2

OK, thanks to all who have helped. But here is my last question. In MF4 one can select the following audio options:
MPEG AUDIO, or LPCM AUDIO or DOLBY DIGITAL AUDIO.
Now what do I use for a mono VHS input?
And what BIT RATE for the appropriate setting?

LPCM file sizes are huge. MPEG audio works in all PAL DVD players but not with all NTSC players. Dolby is now almost universal so I would opt for Dolby.
