Screen ‘Blinks’ in UVS9 Capture Mode

Post by weebilko »

Can anyone help regarding a problem I have when I am in the screen capture mode of UVS. I appreciate that it may be nothing to do with this forum but I would be grateful for any help.

I use an Easy TV PCMCIA card (SinoVideo PCI 2309 Proteus 7134 WDM Video Capture) to capture TV in MPEG 2 format before editing & burning to DVD but when I go into the Add Media>Capture Mode of either USV9 or DMF5 my computer screen immediately starts to blink/flicker and yet if I go into any of the drop down menus to change say the format the screen becomes stable then blinks when I come out again. My desktop icons behind the screen also blink so it’s the whole screen that ‘blinks’. It doesn’t seem to affect the video quality but it’s most annoying.

I am sure it’s not the Ulead software as I have a CD/DVD label design program exPressit SX 3.0 with gives me the same problem even when the card is not in my laptop however these are the only two applications that cause my WinXP+SP2 OP a problem.

Has anybody got any ideas as to what might be causing the problem?

It sounds like another process is repeatedly forcing itself to be the topmost window, or invalidating the entire desktop window, causing the redraw.

I would bring up Task Manager and try to identify any process(es) that may be associated with the capture device, and try shutting them down.

Thanks THoff but can't seem to find any process in Task manger that might be causing the problem.
