cant edit .mov files

hello
i am new to video editing and the moviefactory program. i found it very friendly but i have a problem. i shot about 30 short clips in new zealand last month and since i used 2 cameras some files are .mov files and some are .avi files. i have changed the file name to hebrew leaving the .mov ending. since i did it the moviefactory is not recognizing the files. i cant change the files back to the original numbers since i dont know which number was each. when i changed the .mov files back to eanglish the program recognizes them but when i do join videos to few files together the program gets stuck immediately. each .mov file has a small .thm file with the number that the original .mov file had, but i dont know which belongs to each and what importance these files have?
any ideas how i can fix the problem?

Movie Factory 5 is supposed to be able to edit .MOV files according to their PDF file Movie Factory 5 features. You might want to download the Try Before You buy version and see if you can edit the files.
