After installing the new beta upgrade patch for MSP 8, I have started to have problems with smart compositor (a tool i use often).
After I have edited a template within smart compositor and obtained great results. I then transfer it to the timeline, only to find my images do not line up and my text boxes are in different places and my "intro that rocks" is a complete mess............ any ideas as to whats going wrong.
Plus I would just like to say that since upgrading to MSP 8 from 7, I have had nothing but problems and crashes, I used to look forward to video editing but lately it is becoming a bit of a chore.

Smart Compositor Problems
Arrgh! This is happening to me too! I have not installed the 'beta' patch. I spend a while getting all the right footage into the smart compositor and when I insert it into the timeline all my videos and images are all over the place, titles too. I just don't have the time to manually fix every item. What is going on here!
Umm, I think I have found the problem. The files within the smart compositor are NTSC (Because if the US uses it then so should everyone else!!?
) and my project settings are of course PAL, since I live in Australia. I would hazard a guess Video_guy that this might be your problem too? I changed my project settings to NTSC and now the clips are back in their damn boxes!
yay.
Smart Compositor Problems
I'm just in the process of reinstalling everything and making a clean start but thanks for the prompt advice i'll watch out for that.
Chris.
Chris.
Yes, they are NTSC. I could tell you, if I were permitted (NDA), a pathetically funny story about this during the beta testing of v. 8.0, last year.troppo wrote:Umm, I think I have found the problem. Yes, it is strange how Ulead have always defaulted to NTSC when they know damn well that the vast majority of the global population watch their TV in PAL (almost ½ the world's viewers in China and India alone!). Mebbe because NTSC is the norm in Taiwan???
I've had some minor problems in SC during earlier beta SP1, but I'll report this, as well.

Smart Compositor Problems
Well I reinstalled everything and still the same problem. I looked at changing settings to NTSC and SC worked fine. But soon as i changed back to PAL the problem came back. Hope Ulead can sort this out as SC is a great tool and i'm eagerly awaiting the release of the SC template pack.

Looks like you have to work on your project as NTSC and then during the export process encode to PAL.I looked at changing settings to NTSC and SC worked fine. But soon as i changed back to PAL the problem came back.
On a second note, the crashes are driving me nuts. My patience is wearing thin. Grrr.
