Hey sjj1805, thanks for taking some time with a NEWBIE!!
Unfortually... did not see any mention of .ts files there. I do not want to downconvert to DVD files...(Can do that now).
Want to use the Full HD file... no additional compression.
Have a A1 HD DVD player... and looking to create a short HD project on normal DVD-R, (It has been done). Will continue to dig.

You have to convert the file to be able to use it with any Ulead products.
HDTVtoMPEG2 will convert the files to MPG without any loss of quality.
Its very fast and has a excellent commercial remover. Once converted you can open the file in Movie Factory 5, Video Studio 9/10 and Media Studio Pro 8.

Steve:
The posts you are probably thinking of covered .tp files they are generated by HDTV capture cards, .ts files are also generated by HDTV capture cards and are not directly usable in any Ulead NLE software without conversion by 3rd party software such as HDTVtoMPEG2 or Womble. HDTVtoMPEG2 is very fast compared to Womble, only takes a few minutes to convert and detect ads in a 1/2 hour file.
If you would like to refresh your memory here the posts.

I had just found it as well,
yes it was http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=13767
the stumbling block was it mentioned a .tp file instead of a .ts file
Thank you

Thanks folks.... I was getting a little confused with a program I would use in the past called HDTVtoDVD... which would make DVD compatible files from .ts files... downconverting them.
Just downloading: HDTVtoMPEG2_v1.11.87.zip now... will report back!
Thanks folks... loving this forum so far!!

Update:
OK, has a short 3 minute clip that was an origianal .ts file. Converted using HDTV To MPEG2.
Pretty quick, no problems at all really.
Opened MF5.... selected HD DVD project... dragged the new file in with no problem what so ever. did some minor changes to the menu.
Selected create HD DVD files in a temp folder.
Create an .iso image is in grey... not allowing me access.
Been reading about some concerns burning the folders... but will see what happens. Just five minutes into the creation.
Update:
22 minutes later... the 2min 30 second DVD is done.
There is a HDDVD_TS folder.. and a .tif file... and a .alb file. I have an old copy of Prassi... so I am burning just the TS Folder to a DVDR (319 meg).
Will throw it into my A1 and see if it will play.

I think the title says it all. If it is already DVD compliant and you have this unchecked it will re-render (convert) your file to whatever your project settings currently have been set to. Obviously this takes quite a bit of time. If the files are already DVD compliant then there is no need for conversion. (plus associated loss of quality)DVDguy wrote:Well a few hours later I just finished watching my first HD DVD Authored project on my A1.
Thanks everyone for your help.
One last important question:
""Do Not Convert Compliant MPEG Files"
Should I have that clicked... or not??
There are times you may wish to overide an already DVD compliant file from not being converted. Such as the need to reduce its size to make it fit onto the DVD disc.
I authored a couple of HD-DVD's using some sample HDV clips from an online HDV Resource.
I used MSP8 to convert them from *.m2t to *.mpg (very quick conversion -- I don't think it re-encoded anything -- more like extracted the *.mpg from the transport stream).
In MF5 I burned the *.ISO image, and then burned the image to DVD+RW using DVDDecryptor.
Took it to my local Bestbuy to see if it would work, and it did
They did not have the remote control for the Toshiba, so we could not test menu navigation. To get it to play, we hit the STOP button, then hit the PLAY button and it went right into the movie.
I've heard some folks having problems when using multiple clips. I combined all the sample clips into one long Title for my HD-DVD.
Regards,
George
