Couple of Problems, possibly codecs!!!

Post by jmmhc4 »

First off, I captured audio/video from my minidv camcorder to DV-AVI on my pc. Pretty sure I did it right. However, I cannot watch AVI files on Winamp. Second, I have no sound on my avi files while watching in Media Player. Says error downloading codec. However, I do not know what audio codec I need. Ulead 10 I imagine should of installed it, when I installed ULEAd 10.

Second off, when I make a MPG file, such as dvd or mpg2, which i think are pretty much the same thing, I can only watch these files in Winamp. I cannot watch them in Windows media Player? Any idea why.

If you have installed Video Studio 10, can't you watch your AVI video in VS?

You need to tell us, step by step, what you did when you downloaded, and what your settings were.

You need to tell us how you ended up with a MPG2 file, and what your settings were.

You very likely have a problem with the codecs on your computer, maybe as a result of downloading a "codec pack" that bundles a bunch of often conflicting codecs into one humongous install.

I would suggest downloading Sherlock to see if there is a problem. Another thing you can do is execute regsvr32 qdv.dll to re-register the Microsoft DV codec.
