Captured sound is too soft
I have captured VHS onto DVD but when I play back the DVD on a normal DVD player I have to crank the volume up to almost full to hear anything. I have checked all the windows audio controls that are set to max for recording. Can some please advise me what is the best settings to use in MF4 for capturing VHS audio from a camcorder with mono sound?

Just double checking your last statement.
When you open windows volume control it defaults to the volume controls for playback.
Try:
1.
Open Sounds and Audio Devices in Control Panel.
2.
On the Audio tab, under Sound recording, click Volume.
3.
In the Recording Control dialog box, drag the Volume slider for the appropriate device up or down to increase or decrease the input volume.

Recording Volume is set to max
Thanks but after checking this setting, I have found it to be set to max. Any suggestions on what settings to use in MF4 for the audio capture from a VHS mono input?

Dwanyne,
I don't think you can increase the audio volume in DVDMF. You can only decrease it.
How are you capturing your video from the VHS? If you are using an Svideo cable and an audio cable, then is the audio cable plugged into the Line-in port of your soundcard? If you are using the Mic then the audio will not be very loud.

Hi,
>>>I have captured VHS onto DVD but when I play back the DVD on a
>>>normal DVD player I have to crank the volume
When you record using MF you set the audio capture port in your sound mixer to the same port that the cables are plugged into.
You can use the mixer for your soundcard or the windows mixer.
Using the windows mixer the default screeen is the Playback volume controls. You need to change that to the recording controls via the toolbar on top "Advanced", then select "Recording", make sure the correct ports are checked off to display and then "OK".
In that recording control screen you set the input's audio gain. It sounds like the audio gain volume slider for your recording(s) was low.
So, you have 2 controls to remember and work with for dvd creation/capturing, 1 for recording the audio volume & 1 for playback.
