We'd need to know the exact properties of the rendered file, but it sounds like you had a value entered in the 'playback speed' field and the file was rendered using that setting.

Hi Hamprof,

The Playback Speed is located on the Video Attribute Tab, just below the Color Correction button. Click on it, and in the dialogue box that opens up make sure the setting is 100. 100 is normal speed, any value less then 100 slows it down, and vise-versa any value over 100 speeds it up.

Another possibilty is that the file contents didn't match the frames per second value in the file header. If the file header says the video has 25 FPS, but the video was recorded at a higher frame rate like 50 FPS, then the video will play back at half speed.

What device did the file come from, and how was the file created?

out play back is in slow motion

Same problem, not with other software

Post by cesare250495 »

Same problem.

I'm using a Panasonic DV10000 DV player/recorder for acquiring in DV mode.

AVI files are created correctly.
When I play them in the preview window, the play SLOW (about 4%).
When I put them on the timeline, they work correctly.
When I view AVI files with WindowsMediaPlayer and with other sofwares, they play SLOW.

No such problem with other sofware that I'm trying to leave (Pinnacle) for other problems.

Suggestions?

Please fill in your profile so we can identify your system setup.

Can you provide the clip properties and the project properties, please? This would give us a starting point to help identify the problem.

Ok, sorry for the mislead.
Profile updated.

More details on clips when I'll analyze them (this evening).

The annoying issue is present both with VS9 and 10+, and the settings for AVI capture are not modified from defaults.

The strange thing is that when the clip is put on the timeline, the timeline play works great, as the DVD burned from the timeline!

So I have scenes (avi clips) unplayable with other players BUT on VS timeline.

Regarding Adobe Premier 6.0, if the output format of the video file is in MPEG it will not be displayed properly in Adobe Premier. Adobe prefers AVI (Audio Video Interleave) files and most video editors also prefer either DV (Digital Video) or AVI for editing. All though, agreed, these files are extremely huge if not unmanagable, regarding hard drive space too, but, thats the way it is. Ulead is about one of the only editing systems that allow you to edit in MPEG.[/quote]

Here we are with file details.

File format: AVI Microsoft file (valid)
File size: 33Mb
Frame rate: 25 f/sec
Duration: 9.6 sec
Data rate: 3515.63 kbps

-- Video --
Compression: DV video encoder - type 1
Attributes: 24bits, 720x576 4:3
Total frames: 240

-- Audio --
Compression: DV audio - PAL
Attributes: 48Khz, 16bit, stereo
Total samples: 460.800

It's obvious that I'm using VS in PAL mode and Ulead DirectShow
Capture Plugin ;)

Need other infos? Just ask.

Yes, just checked.

I've tried to change DV codec (from standard to Panasonic one) without any result.

Another useful info.
If you play with "Clip" highlighted, the speed is wrong.
If you play with "Project" highlighted, the speed is OK.
If you play with another player (WMP, for expample) the speed is wrong.

I'm confused....
You say the clip doesn't play and nor does the project. However, in a previous post you said it plays fine in the timeline. Should I assume that means playing a clip that hasn't been inserted into the timeline and the project preview?

Have you defragged your system? It may be a simple performance issue. This seems quite odd.
