Problem adding chapter points to imported mpeg video file

Post by Karin »

Hi,

I have created an MPEG video file which I have imported into VideoStudio 8 using Share > Create Disc > Add Video.

I then proceeded to try and add Chapters using 'Add/Edit Chapters'. I did not leave any clips in the timeline - I am starting completely afresh and then importing the single MPeg video file before trying to add the chapter points.

At first all seemed well, but then I realised that I could not select the exact frame numbers I wanted. When I try to 'Step Up' or 'Step Down' using the arrows next to the time display, the frame counter 'jumps' in intervals of approximately 12 frames at once. I have tried manually entering the required frame number, but it won't let me, and jumps to the nearest 'interval'.

I should also add that I have done chapter points before with no problems when creating a DVD from clips/videos on the timeline, and created successful DVD's. It is only recently when I had an audio sync problem and visited the Forum for the first time that I was aware that it is recommended to render your video files BEFORE creating a DVD in VideoStudio.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me why this frame counter jump is happening, and most importantly if there is a way to fix it!

I use VideoStudio8
2.8GHz P4
1Gb RAM
4x Pioneer DVD Writer
Windows 2000 Professional

The video file I am trying to add chapter points to is:

File Format: PAL DVD
File Size: 3,397,800KB
Duration: 3141 Seconds

Video Type: MPEG-2 Video Lower Field First
Total Frames: 78,525
Attributes: 24Bits, 720x576, 4:3
Frame Rate: 25.000 Frames/Sec
Data Rate: Variable bit rate (Max 8000kbps)

Thanks,

Karin
