Im trying DVDMF5 - when I get to the capture screen (want to capture from my Canon ZR45 DV Cam via Firewire), the GUI response time is unusable. I hover over things and it takes like 20 seconds for the tooltips to come up (i can see them draw). I click the down arror for the capture duration and the dropdown never draws..
I can use version 4 fine - speed is fine, i can change from fixed duration to full dv tape..
Any thoughts? For now I still use 4 to import..
DVDMF5 - Response Very Slow

Hi Frachel, and welcome to the forums..
I appologize for the delay in responding. However first we are going to need more information to get this resolved.
Please complete your system information in your profile. So far what appears to be your problem, maybe found in your system.
When you are capturing, are you running any other applications, utilities in the background or foreground? Apps like antivirus, spyware, internet? Try shutting down everything that is not needed.

Welcome to the forums..
Your system looks to be up to the task, however what OS are your running, I'm guessing WinXP (home or Pro), doesn't really matter.
With your preview screen appearing scrambled it seems like you may have disbled more then you should. I'm running a machine alot slower then yours and have had no problem with the program being slow, even running it while in my normal profile.
Do you only have the 1-80gig HDD? If so how much free space do you have, and have you defragmented it recently? Have you checked your Temp folders for left-overs? Try deleting the contents of your Temp folders. You will need to be able to see the Hidden Files/Folders to get to the Temps. They are found.. C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings. Substitute Username with your user name.
By your post you are familiar with our tutorials section, where Steve has placed a wealth of informaton. Going through some of General Product Information may help you find an answer too..

Hello Ron,
Thanks for respons.
I have currently 10GB free space on my HDD and use an external 250GB for video storage.
It runs fine with DVDMF 4 and video capture even on my normal profile.
There is another intressting effect. In case I start video capture without camera connected, GUI response is fine but showing no capture device.
As soon as I connect the Camera (Panasonic MX-300 via Terratec Cameo 600 Firewire) the GUI becomes slow and the program gets useless. As soon as I disconnect the camera, GUI becomes normal again.
I guess there is a problem between my drivers and capture software in DVDMF 5.
