No Activate Button

Post by RayinPV »

I downloaded the msp 8 trial version and from the first use I saw that there was no activate or buy button. I just figured they would come up once the trial was over, well it's over and still no buttons. I don't wanna buy the product if I can't activate it.
Anyone know what may cause this problem?

Thanks

Hi

I've never updated direct from a trial version but I don't think you have an activation key in tha software. When I upgraded from MSP 7, I had to go to the MSP8 purchase section at Ulead (I worked from the UK branch) and it just sorted out the upgrade from MSP7 during the download. I think it should be the same for you and the trial version. You'll need a member account though (only a minute to set up).
Thanks & regards.

Hi Ray, and welcome to the forums..:)

Gra is correct, with MSP8 you need to purchase and download the version (either full or upgrade). I will also add that based on problems expressed here, that using an activate function with the TBYB (trial) versions generally lead to problems, especially with any fixes or patches. They tend to see your "activated" version as a trial version and will not install.

So while download times tend to be quite tiring, it is well worth getting a fresh copy and install of the program.

Hello and thanks for your answers. The following was taken directly from Uleads website on how to activate your Try Before You Buy version.
"
Try Before You Buy

This is a convenient and time-saving mechanism to download and install trial versions of Ulead software. You will have 15 or 30 days or 5 times (depending of the version) to try a full-functioning version of the software.

After the trial, this software no longer works. If you want to continue to use the software, you need to activate the TBYB version. No further software or updates need to be downloaded or installed.

The TBYB activation process takes just a few seconds to complete. No personal information is captured or transmitted during this process. "

If you'd like to see the whole page, it's here

It is a very misleading, but maybe they just haven't updated the page yet.
Thanks

You are most likely correct.. However I still advise against activation of a TBYB version. It is much better if you buy the program, then download the full version.

Hi Ray

As Ron says you can get problems with activation keys generally when you get round to updates, etc as I have found on other, non ULead software and I'd advise you to go and download the full version manually.

At the end of the day, MSP8 is very good value for money and allows you to acheive some impressive and powerful looking effects, with lots of flexibility as well (and you have a very helpful web community here as well if you are a beginner with this software or video editing generally).
Thanks & regards.

Hi again Ray. I was going through the updates and hotfixes for something different at http://www.ulead.co.uk/tech/msp/msp_ftp.htm and noticed there is actually a hotfix for the TBYB version. I still strongly recommend you download manually direct from the site for the reasons already discussed but, if you haven't tried it already, wonder if that fix may help you in any way.
Thanks & regards.

Had same problem as the OP. Re-downloaded the trial on May8 and the activaton button was back ! Ulead is obviously still changing their patches ? and downloads without correcting the version info.
