I'm wondering if there's a way to increase the audio volume of files that have already been captured. Here's the procedure I use to capture:
Capture to standalone DVD HDD recorder (Pioneer PRV 9200).
Burn file to DVD on standalone recorder.
(If it's possible to check audio ahead of time, such as when transferring froma pre-existing tape, adjust audio through processor loop, using outboard audio mixer.)
Import TS files from DVD to computer, using Movie Factory.
Edit Mpeg file in VideoReDo.
Open edited file in Movie Factory.
Set project settings, chapters and menus.
Burn disc.
==============================
This process works very well for most projects. However, I am not always able to check the audio ahead of time, for instance, when capturing a one-time broadcast from the cable TV box. I had one example yesterday in which the volume peaked at -10dB; normal for my projects is +4dB.
To correct that, I presently have to burn the capture to DVD, then recapture from that DVD back to the HDD, using the processor loop to adjust the volume upward, then burn again from the HDD to another DVD before importing to the computer. I would like to avoid these extra steps if possible.
Currently, in MF4 (the version I'm using) there is no function for adjusting audio volume upward. The "Video enhance" button has an "audio" tab, but that is for mixing the main stream audio with subsidiary streams, and only allows for reducing the volume of the main stream, not for increasing it.
I have activated the "advanced" button in the customize Mpeg settings, and there is no way to do this there either.
So I have two questions:
1) Is there some way I'm not finding to increase the volume of the main audio stream in MF4?
2) If the answer to (1) is no, is this functionality present in MF5?
Thanks for any help.

If not, since this occurs rarely, I think I'll stick with my kludge.

Movie Factory is essentially a DVD Authoring Tool
Its main purpose is to take a video or number of videos and place them onto a menu driven DVD disc.
VideoStudio is essentially a Video Editing Tool.
Its main purpose is to enable you to cut the video up as though it was old fashioned film being cut with scissors. then you would stick the pieces back together again inserting transitions at the joins. You can add Titles, Special effects Picture in Picture Effects, in fact turn yourself into a bit of a Steven Spielberg.
