Cool 3D as packaged with Video Studio 9 purchase

Post by tommytucker »

I have not gotten a response from Ulead, perhaps someone can enlighten me here. Cool 3D is on my computer from install of VS9. When I try to register it..there is no serial number in About Cool 3D. Why is there no serial number with the product?

because it is a free trial and as such can not be registered - none of Uleads free trials can be registered and are not eligible for technical support.

If you are using a purchased UVS version, COOL 3D that came with it is a SE version (Simple Edition) and is an bonus of UVS package. SE/bonus version might not have serial number in it, you can use the serial number of UVS to register. If you need tech support you will need the serial number of UVS.

Hope this helps.

Put another way,
By registering VideoStudio you have automatically registered Cool3D SE and it also qualifies you for the upgrade to Cool 3D Production Studio.

Crazy upgrade process from Cool 3.0 to 3.5

Post by tommytucker »

I lost my presets ( the presets and compositions are better in the SE 3.0 than the upgraded 3.5)! During upgrade, 3.5 requires that it remove 3.0. After noticing that my neat compositions in 3.0 were gone, I read in support that you have to first export the presets from 3.0 and then import then into 3.5. But you don't know this until after product is removed. Any ideas on where I can download a SE or trial of 3.0 just long enough to export those into 3.5. This is crazy.

Where I got them

Post by tommytucker »

Cool 3D 3.0 came as an SE version with my download purchase of VS9 some time ago. Purchased upgrade to 3.5, it automatically REMOVES previous install of 3.0. Still waiting to hear from Support. Just thought I might be able to reinstall 3.0 and get those compositions.
Any idea on whether I should just get an version of Production Studio? What are the advantages to using that? I am just a casual user of VS9, maybe soon 10+ for fun and casual video editing.

Well what you could do is
1. Copy the exisiting Cool3D directory to a temporary folder.
2. Uninstall.
3. Re-install the SE Version from VS9
4. Copy that to another Temp folder.
5. Remove the SE version.
6. Re-install your purchased version.
7. Restore any missing items from step 1.
8. Import any extra items from step 4.

Not as difficult as it may seem.
Cool 3DPS contains so much more you won't need to bother importing from
Cool 3D, but to put your mind at rest follow the same sort of method as above before installing 3DPS.

Missing Compositions

Post by cliveports »

I have EXACTLY the same problem. Got C3D3.0 as a freebie with VS10plus and it had loads of nice compositions, I liked it so much I bought c3d3.5 (Not PS) and only got 5 compositions and cant find the others, the ULEAD technical support guys (very helpful and very knowledagble on VS by the way) dont know either!! Feel a bit ripped off, dont know why I spent the money to get less!!!

No compositions :(

Post by cliveports »

Thanks but these only include a couple more compositions. Cant understand why Ulead make this so difficult!! All we ask for is the compositions as supplied in 3.0!!!

As Ulead progressed through the various versions of C3D, not all compositions in older versions were carried forward to the next or succeeding versions.

You could export the compositions from 3.0 and import them into 3.5.

Hope that helps.

Hi Ken, Does it Help? Well, Yes and no, my ponderings.......

>V3.0 came with about 15 compositions and these were useful, V3.5 came with just 5 and these were just 'example types' not very useful.

>When V3.5 installed it removed 3.0.

>If you re-install 3.0 it 'screws' the 3.5 install even if I install to a temp directory.

>Exporting and importing has to be on an individual composition basis so will take a lot of work.

>I bemused as to why we're all having this conversation, why didnt/dont Ulead just provide a complete package???? How many other companies' software "Version improvments" come with less than the previous with no easy way to bring back up to the previous version?
