Failed to create the Direct3D component.

Post by Mr. Bill »

I am receiving the following two messages when Cool 3D Production studio starts up. :(

Failed to create the Direct3D component. (Build3DDevice(Fail to create D3D device), No error.)

Then…

CU3dEditView::)nActiveView

I can not view any of the objects, videos or movies and when I try to add text the program goes through the motions, but displays nothing.

I tried reinstalling DirectX and uninstalled then reinstalled Cool 3D PS.

Any help would be appreciated. :D

Please complete your system specifications on your profile page.
If you are using Windows XP please check the windows Event Log:-
START | RUN dialog box
%SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc /s
and press enter.
Now check the following two folders
Application
System

You will find a red circle witha white cross inside. Double click to open it and there you will find a link
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
This link also contains some hidden code apertaining to your error.
Double click and you will then be given more detailed information and possible cures.

Please tell us your display card model.

If your display card is too old to support DirectX 8, then you cannot use C3DPS and will need to consider to do a upgrade.

You can try:

nVidia Gefore 2 or later.
ATi Radeon or later.

or any other display card that supports DirectX 8/9.

I think it's very easy to find a cheap one now.

Hope this helps.

Windows XP Home Edition SP2
Pentium III 800MHZ 512mb
NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 54 Pro

I was thinking of the display card as I also am now getting an Open GL error with another program. I was going to get new one soon as I want to add a second monitor.
This is just another reason to get one sooner rather than later.

Thank you both.
