How do you fit picture to tv screen

Post by benmilam »

I am putting my first show together with V10+. When I went to an overlay I saw what I figured to be the fit to screen window. I burned a test copy and played it on my TV and it showed exactly what fit in the fit to screen window using the overlay. I have tried resizing my images but they still spread out and as a result, I have heads partially cut off. If I crop a picture I can get it to fit. Is there a way to get the image to fit the fit the screen window and not the entire monitor?

Hi,

Yes, you can resize your images in an image editor before bringing them into VS10+. I'm not sure whether you are in PAL or NTSC land. For PAL your images should be around 720 x 576 and NTSC - 720 x 480.

Now for a neat trick, however you will have to do this for each image individually. With your image in the overlay track you can either just resize it from the default size by grabbing and dragging the yellow boxes located on the 4 corners. If you already have "Fit to Screen" then just resize them down by the same method.

The best method is to batch resize using an image editor, like PhotoImpact, Paintshop Pro, or there are freebies like IrfanView that do an excellent job.

Thanks for the tip. One thing I did was use overlay 3,4,5 and 6 and put red bars on the outside of the tv screen. This way I can see what is going to show up on the screen.
