I noticed a significant delay when using Adjust->Resize in PI11 over PI10 and before. It will always occur for any Adjust->Resize (and several other Adjust procedures) for a particular invocation of PI11. I also run Kerio Personal Firewall 2.2 and have noticed that then I click the Resize there are a number IOs that are issued, EVERY TIME, which must be Iedit initiated. Since there is no connection made Kerio doesn't tell me what the IOs are about.
Between this problem, which adds up to five seconds for each Resize, and the gobbling of CPU when nothing is happening in PI11, I suspect that Ulead is doing some unannounced, sereptitious data gathering which probably violates some laws here in the USA (I know we don't seem to care about our privacy laws here, but that is just the current government.)
Adjust -> Resize Delay in PI11

Ah, yes, the typical response when you have no answer! And paranoia is appropriate in the web world. Not that it matters but I have been a computer systems programmer at the University of California at Santa Barbara for 30 years. Yes, very sloppy programming.
Well, with that chest butting out of the way and some fortuitous happenings I discovered that the delay is PI trying to reacquire printer settings EVERY time there are certain Adjust operations used, which requires a TIMEOUT if the printer is not available for the process to continue ... even though I was very clear that this was a PI11, not PI10, bug support could offer no help other than suggesting I reinstall ... oh, yes, that would surely have helped me a lot!
It is no wonder that so many people get so frustrated with Ulead. And why is it that the CPU gobbling problem is always just tossed off as no consequence?

I believe Ulead and InterVideo might be very interested if you apply the job. However, it's in Taiwan but it's not a must to speak and read Chinese.

As for IOs, maybe Ulead does something via DCOM and Kerio is set to notify on loopback (not necessarily on 127.0.0.1, but generally from machine to itself) connections as well.dwightmccann wrote: It is no wonder that so many people get so frustrated with Ulead. As for the rest (CPU usage spikes and a slew of other problems):
It seems it is a sad era when software decitions are made by marketing managers. Code efficiency, robustness, reliability no more count much (or they cost you arm and leg).
I can bet in autumn we'll get PI12 with new features (just a few, so there are still ideas left for PI13, 14 etc.), half of them being some automatic wizards giving questionable effect, couple of improvements here and there, some of them being actually just rehashes, and some changes just for the sake of change. So that money keeps pouring in.
Lots of problems/issues will remain unfixed. Fe., will we get consistent dialogs for different features at last (some of them are resizeable, some not now)? Any REAL problem tracking tool? Will the problems with interface .xum files be fixed once and for all? Bizzare startup problems? I think they all get lowest priority now, because you cannot put them in an advert....
BTW, lately I noticed that, in comparison to PSE or PSP, art goodies (masks, frames, stamps etc) in PI are significantly lower quality (I mean artistically).

Thanks for the tip Dwightdwightmccann wrote:keenart, HT ... I am very expensive and do not speak chinese (although I wish I did) ... I doubt Ulead would hire me at $150000USD plus benefits which is what I would require to even consider it. Anyway, the Adjust problem can be circumvented by setting the printer to 'Print to File' or PDF.
