Play Video Clip before Selection Menu

Post by weebilko »

In VS9 is there a way to create a DVD that allows a short video clip to be played as an intro before the main selection menu appears.

I can set up main and submenus OK but don't know how to go about inserting a pre-selection video clip and can't seem to find anything in the excellent help sections and posts.

In UVS9 open the "Create Disc" function and put the video you want to play before the menu into the FIRST position in the 'Create Disc' timeline - then click to tick the box against "Use first clip as introductory video' - then add the rest of your videos.

Thanks Brian, the answer was staring me in the face all the time.

Brian just a follow up if you are still watching this thread.

Yes all worked well ie. the intro video plays then into the Feature Selection Menu but after you make your selection it goes into a sub-menu showing 'clips' of the selected feature which I don't want. How do I go from the 1st menu straight to the chosen feature. Also if I stop the video it doesn't go back to the menu; should I have ticked auto repeat>Back to menu in the Gear wheel project settings?

Not 100% sure I understand what your saying - but it sounds to me as though you have also created a 'Chapter Menu' and that is what is showing after you select a thumbnail on the main menu - to stop the chapter menu from showing - on the second screen of the 'Create Disc' option - thats the screen where you create your DVD title - under the bottom right corner of the preview screen is a button marked "Advanced Settings" - click on it and in the pop-out click on 'Create Chapter Menu' so that it is now UN-TICKED.

The answer for future projects if you do not want the chapters is to not create them but just go from the first screen of Create Disc to the next by using the "Next" button - not the 'Add/Edit Chapter' button.

Hope I have understood your problem

Thanks Brian you are correct I did mistakenly create a 'Chapter Menu' and shall follow your advice for the future.
