editing sound

Post by jrbmaclachlan »

Is it possible to use video studio for editing sound only. I imported a wav file into the speach line and then cut the bits I didnt want. When I cut a CD the whole file was copied not just the bit I wanted.

Did you render your edited file?

You might try using an audio editor. When I edit the audio, I usually export the audio to a WAV file, edit it, and then re-import it (That's only for stereo, I don't have a 5.1 surround editor.)

I've been using GoldWave ($50) for many years... a lot longer than I've been editing video.

An alternative is Audacity (FREE !!!).

I also use Exact Audio Copy (FREE !!!) for CD "ripping".[/url]

... And if you have Nero, it has a Wave Editor module built in to it which is excellent.

The reason the entire .WAV file was burned and not just the part you wanted, is that you probably just "saved" and didn't create ("Share") an entire new file with a new name and a new size.

I'd say get Audacity (recommended above by Doug) -- at least acquire it (download it) -- because there used to be more of these excellent free audio editing programs but they got bought by big companies and, though now still available, can only be had for a price!
