Advice on product selection

Post by originalsnuffy »

Hello all,

I have the following U-Lead products at the moment; DVD Movie Factory Version 1, and a Videostudio 7 SE version. At one time I had a SE version of Movie Factory 2, but that was lost when I had to reformat and rebuild my system due to a nasty driver from Netgear's SC101 product.

I would like to the following with my U-Lead products

1) Burn DVD's with home videos and videos created from my hi def pc card (Dvico Fusion III Gold). Some of these videos have dolby digital 2.0 and 5.1 sound.

It would be great if I could capture the hi-def from the Dvico card directly with a U-Lead product if that is possible.

2) Hopefully create DVD-Audio discs that play back on all my DVD-Audio players. I tried Movie Factory 4 with this capability, but the discs played on my Denon and not my Pioneer.

For some reason, Movie Factory 1 and Videostudio 7 no longer seem to want to create DVDs with working dolby digital sountracks. If somebody knows of a fix, that would be great.

The DVD-Audio is a nice to have, but I'm not sure if I can solve the compatiblity problem or not.

Otherwise I would need a new product. The trial of Movie Factory 5 seemed good for the disc creation; it did not want to re-render the files it was presented with. If I recall, most of the other versions seem to want to re-render somewhat. I tried the trial for Videostudio 10, and it replaced the audio track with ersatz music (is this an artifact of the trial version or a flaw in the program?).

If Movie Factory 4 won't re-render, it might be the best choice. Otherwise I guess I'll go with Movie Factory 5. But I am open to people's thoughts.

Thanks.

Movie Factory 5 should do everything you need. MF5 will capture HD video using your Dvico card, the only 3rd party software that does work with it.
MF5 will also create HD DVD/Blue Ray when the hardware is available.
MF5 has Dolby 5.1 included.

If you want to do a lot of editing you might wnat to look at Video Studio 10+.
