Ulead Video Studio 10 Freezes after dv to dvd capture!

Post by smsmasters »

I have a VERY fast machine, I would say it is at the high end of consumer computing currently!

Pentium D 930 Dual Core 4 GHZ x 2 (I overclocked this)
1gb dual channel ddr2 ram
300 gb SATA II hard drive

Everything works fine, I can capture dv to dvd format at 100% quality whilst barely only using ~40 % cpu.

Anyway, the only problem I have is that after the capture is finished, i.e. the end of the tape is reached, it says flushing dv buffer or something, and the main program freezes, it doesn't respond.

Any ideas?

Are you allowing the process to complete (the "flushing dv transcode buffer") :?:

Yes, I'm trying to let it complete the flushing process, but it seems to stall.

I just finished another dv to dvd capture, but there is like a 30 second stall, I assume it is flushing the buffer in the background?

Is there a way to set a the capture file name in video studio editor before capturing?

If you do a small capture (5 minutes or so), does it go smoothly?

Do you have any antispyware or virus scanning software running during the capture? If so, disable them before capturing...

4 GHz ! I hope you have a BIG fan on that CPU. :D

Possibly the 7200rpm hard drive is not fast enough to empty the transcode buffer... ? You might want to add a 10K rpm Western Digital Raptor.
