Importing 6.5 project file

I created a project under MSP 6.5 and then imported it in MSP 7.0. After making some changes I saved it under a new file name. then I tried to reopen the new file and got the error message "File reading error".
How can I recover that file and how can I avoid this problem in future?

did you make some backups of folders or projects to cd-r? if so, when you re-copy them to your hard drive, their attributes could be changed to "read only" check if any temp folders or project folders are "read-only"
