Adding non-overlay titles

Post by Affrinard »

I have a relatively simple question. I've watched all the tutorial vids I could find and checked various FAQs but still haven't been able to find the answer.

Does anyone know how to add a title before an actual video track starts? I'm only able to add an overlay track after a title and this significantly reduces the quality.

Any pointers?

haven't done this in a while...

I haven't used VS since version 6, but I think I used to insert a color clip (black), and then just add overlay text to the color clip.

I could be confusing editors (as I"ve used a number of different editors)...

Yes George you are correct.

You can change the duration of the colour clip, top left duration box.

Add a transition between the colour and the video clip, crossfade works well.

When making your title,
Select the two 'TT's' from the animate title section for more options.

I did think of that option at a point.
However, I thought that being able to add title tracks by themselves before an actual clip seemed like such a basic feature that VS would include it.

I know it's not a big deal and it's rather simple to do but it just seems like a workaround rather than the actual way to do it.

Thanks for your replies :)
