I upgraded from VS9 and I noticed that when I add transitions to my project and hit preview to see how the transition looks with the clips, the program really slows down (a lot more than it ever did for VS9 or VS8)
I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong? or have my program on the wrong setting, or if VS 10 Plus just requires more system resources compared to VS9?
I'm not sure if I'm the only one with this problem. I normally close everything down when I'm editing and I've never had problems with the preview window showing my project with tranistions. but now it's out of synch when I add tranistions to my timeline. Like the audio will play but the clips won't move...or do more jerking and stuttering in the preview window.
I'll appreciate any and all help/advice

Hi Amalthia,
I know you've probably read this here several times before. But the Preview Window is just that a simple preview, and it is rendering on the fly the transistions. So it tends to be slow, jumpy, jerky, just not very good.
This is what I've started doing to see how things look.
1. Go to File>Preferences (or press F6).
2. Change the Playback from Instant to High Quality.
3. Now select a portion of your video to preview. Do this by being in Project Mode then using the trim handles, trim the project to a few seconds before and after the amount of the video you want to preview. You will notice a red line appear. Don't worry about it now, we will get rid of it shortly.
4. Now in Project Mode click on the Play button. You should notice that VS is rendering. When it is complete, and it shoud only take a few seconds for a few seconds of video, you will get a much better look at your clip with the transitions, effects etc..
5. When satisfied, again in Project mode, just drag the trim handles back out to the edges, and the red line disappears.
Hope that helps..

thanks videoman for responding so quickly. After reading your description it just hit me that this is almost exactly what I have to do in Media Studio Pro 8...I guess it didn't occur to me that they'd change the way the project playback would work in the preview window.
I'll follow your steps and see how that works for me.
Again thanks for the advice
