I have been working long and hard on a rather involved multi-chapter slideshow for my daughter, complete with multiple music selections et cetera. Have been very careful to backup the .dbs file frequently, realizing how much work is gone and that this project.
Recently, out of the blue, I was unable to retrieve the .dbs file, only repeatedly getting a message that it was an invalid dbs file. Tech support has been extremely slow and in denial on this subject, by a found significant information on the support pages about problems within the software that can cause this problem. It seems like once it happens, you are hosed.
Now I have an extensive file, that my computer says still exists, but the software does not know what to do with it. I'm still waiting to hear back from Ulead (their first response was, try to uninstall and reinstall the program.... I had already tried this with the same "in valid dbs file" error message.
1. His or any solution for this problem, I have a nauseating feeling that there is not.
2. Ulead Tech support is incredibly slow, and thus far not helpful.
3. The software program seems to be loaded with problems and I wish I can get a refund, perhaps go to   Pinnacle.
I appreciate any help.

If the "Invalid DPS file" meesage is shown, usually it's because the file is corrupted and cannot be restored. There are many reasons to cause this:
1. Hardware: bad memory modules in your system.
2. Hardware: hard disk is going to be bad so it writes something wrong.
3. Software: hard disk is not defragged properly and there is a mess in the hard disk.
4. Software: some background program cause the disk reading/writing error.
5. Software: there is a problem in DVDPS that needs to be reported.
You can try the update pack for DVDPS in http://www.ulead.com/tech/dps/dps.htm to see if it helps if you are using DVD PS 3 or earlier.
Hope this helps.
