Subtitle Location
I have problem adjusting the subtitle loaction.
Somehow or the other the subtitle letters get chopped off at the bottom(probably because it is partly outside the "safe area").
I unchecked "fixed" positon for the subtitle, and increased the the Y axis height. This fixed the problem, but another problem arose. Now the subtitles are all over the places along X axis. So, I have to drag each subtitle to middle. This is not possible for a big size subtitle.Too many to be dragged!!
Does anyone know how to change the default "Fixed" height (Y axis) for subtitles? Is it possible to configure it or is there a way to change Y axis only, without affecting the horizontal location?
Since I am using the trial version at the moment, there is no support from Ulead whatsoever, which surprises me because I think this is the time the support should answer technical queries so that the user can decide if the software is useful, and then decide whether to buy it or not.
Thanks

On p. 77 of the manual (which you can download if you haven't already done so, there is a section entitled Setting text attributes.

Thanks for the response.
The page only tells me that the position is changeable, which I aready knew anyway.
I was probaly not very clear about the exact nature of the problem.
I mentioned in my last message, that if I use "Fixed" then the subtitle is too low, if I use "non-fixed", then the subtitles could be raised to a higher location very easily, no problems with that.
Now, the problem is that, because it is on "unfixed" mode, almost all subtitles will move towards right or left side of the screen (X-axis deviation). As a result, one has to drag the misplaced subtitles to midline, along the X-axis. And this will be a problem if you have hundreds of subtitles!!
Could one change the default values for the Y-axis only, without touching the X-axis value . Or is/are there any other solutio/s?
Thanks.

Sorry, read your OP too quickly.
You are quite right. I have always used the fixed bottom centre position and have never had any problems. I don't know how to unfix just one axis.
The best I can think of is to place one s-t where you want it, select the position in the X box, Ctrl-C it, then Ctrl-V it in subsequent s-ts. Yes, more laborious than being able to freeze it but easier than manually positioning each one.
However, the easiest half-solution, if this really bugs you, is to use a fixed position and press Enter at the end of each s-t (bottom - or before if at top), to push the s-t one line further into the picture area.
What is aberrant is that the Title-safe area setting has no effect on sub-titles!!!

The simplest solution I know is to export the subtitles to a text file, edit it and reimport it. Play a little bit around til you understand the format of the file. The important part is that you should use the same settings for all subtitles, since than there is only one entry common to all subtitles and you have only to adjust one value.

Not cleaar
Hi Helge,
I am not quite clear as to how exporting and re-importing going to make any difference.
Can you explain a little bit further, including how do I change the Y-axis for all of the subtitles(please note that by "all of the subtitles", I mean the components(each sub-section) of the same given subtitle.
I still think that, if one way or the other one could change the "Fixed" values for X & Y axis(that is change the default values), the problem will be solved instantly.
But I don't know if one can really change the default values for the "Fixed Mode". Ulead technical support would be the only one who can give a definite answer to this question. But I think they don't take part in this forum.

I am using the latest version.
The text file is in UNICODE format.
Anyone knows how to change the default Y-axis value?

Dont know if there is a easy way to change the fixed position. Maybe its hard coded into the program.
Of course with exporting / reimporting you cannot use fixed, but you can easily change a variable position for all subtitles together. Ascii/unicode will not matter, as long as you dont need unicode characters. The format is the same. If you need information about the format, check the option to export with description (or is it named comments?)
One other way I used successfully is to use a fixed location and patch it afterwards with dvdsubedit ( http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=12931 ) . This seems to be the most comfortable way for me.
