Music files, Copyrighted?

Post by brucefl »

I was wondering if the music files that come with VS9 are copyrighted? I had done a presentation and was going to place it on the local tv network, but they were unsure because of the music I used. They said they would if I had some other music. Not being a musician, my keyboard playing isn't good. Public domain songs you still have to be careful with also. So, are the .mpa files you use, are they ok to use, or are they copyrighted?

If anyone knows of sites that have downloadable music files, public domain, not copyrighted. I would appreciated. I don't mind paying for something but it can get costly. I gues sI can udnerstand from the artist point of view, just trying to figure it out, gives one a headache.
thanks Brucfe

Are you referring to the Smartsound music, or the other music files in Video Studio? Smartsound does sell "royalty free" music, but I don't think the music they included in Video Studio is royalty free. Check their website for more details.

Any music or other files contained in a Ulead Video Studio product are for personal use only. A video of a private presentation, wedding video etc is fine, but broadcasting your footage on a local TV station would require written approval from Ulead.

Didn't see anything on there site. The station is just a local cable channel that is specific to the local cable company. All volunteers, reason why any music they play is local musician stuff, to avoid copyrighted material. It is just a presentation of a local church trip the kids went on.

I don't know if they are copyrighted or not, but I can provide a link to a free, royalty free music site. Mentioned somewhere on this board, but I cannot remember the original poster, so I apologize for not giving credit to the finder, but here is the link

non commercial use/

Reply from ulead was "Yes, you can use any VideoStudio built-in media clips without our permission as long as the puspose is not related to commercial use of the media files. "

though I assume using it for something that doesn't involve charging, such as the church thing I am doing, wouldn't be considered a commercial endevour

thanks for the music site too, going to check it out
