When importing mp3 files to a project, the programme crash's. I can import wma or wave files, but when rendering the project, I get the error message " canot read audio". Can anyone please HELP.

I am not sure how you got this post to be 'sticky'.
But as for MP3s, a lot of people have trouble when they use certain flavours of MP3, including, it seems, those produced with the Lame MP3 codec which happens to be used, amongst others, by Nero. The problem usually goes away if you use another audio format, such as the rock standard .WAV one.

MP3 audio files problem
Ken,
You recommended to use .wav files to circumvent the problem with .mp3 files. Would .wma be OK too?
Thanks, Htan

Bimbing -- I honestly don't know the answer to that. I have never used .wma files with Ulead programs. IN theory, though, it should work. Why don't you try and see.
Ron -- re the stickies, thanks. Live and learn. Though I think Bimbing is not doing himself a favour by making this a sticky since most people seem to not see the stickies anyway!! It was pure luck that I spotted this one the other day as my eyes too normally just glaze over across the normal top two stickies!!!

Bimbing:
I use wma files frequently in VS9 when editing DV AVI files and have had no problems doing so.
However, if I am editing MPEG2 files (which are compressed heavily) I tend to convert the wma's (heavily compressed) to wav files (uncompressed) beforehand as I have noticed the combination of two lossy compression formats can lead to "out of sync" dangers.
