Cannot Install MovieFactory 5 - Direct X Problem

Post by gato »

Hi,
currently I'm using a rather old Version of MovieFactory (2.5), so I want to try the new one "MovieFactory 5". Unfortunately, I can't install it.
It always gives me an DirectX Error :-(

"Installation will stop now, you have to install DirectX 9 or above"

But I AM using DirectX 9c, So how should I deal with this error?

I'm using Windows 2003 (Server), not XP. Maybe this is a problem for the installer? Abviously, I don't want to change my operating system for MovieFactory 5.

How could I convince the installer that my DirectX version is O.K.?

Regards,

I think DVDMF 5 supports Windows 2003. For DirectX issues, if the required DirectX version is already installed but installer still cannot go on to install DVDMF, then it's possible the DirectX runtime is corrupted. You just need to reinstall DirectX to make it work.

I think some useful information can be found in the followings.

Hope this helps.

I reinstalled DirectX (directx_feb2006_redist.exe), but still no Luck :-(

It seems, that MF5 does not like Windows 2003 :-(

If you right-click on the executable file and select "Properties" is there an option that says "Run As" or similar.
I know XP has a way to make programs more compatible if the program doesn't recoginze the operating system version.
