Q-Stor Installation serial number

Post by bstillwell »

I bought a Q-Stor FireWire card. The installation instructions mention nothing about the serial number needed for the installation. I contacted Q-Stor trying to get a serial number. They ran me around in a circle. I searched all folders, no help. I installed the software via install disk (came with the adapter board) and via program downloaded from the internet (which was one of their suggestions). The serial number has to be in the format of :
xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxxxxx

I found these 2 serial numbers while searching through the folders:
111A2-88000-00230680 and 12942-88000-01452327

Neither worked.

Does anyone have help to let me get the software loaded??

The installation of a firewire card should not require any serial numbers:

Steve, with regard to the serial number I think he's referring to the bundled version of "VideoStudio DV" which was included with his card. Is that correct bstillwell?

If so, software of this type often includes a pre-loaded serial which may appear grayed out when you run the installer. In this case you shouldn't have to enter it manually in order to install the program. Outside of that, the original vendor of your card might be your only hope although obviously they have not been helpful.

For what it's worth, I believe your bundled "DV" edition is a lite version of VS5 which dates back to late 2001 or thereabouts. If so, whatever functionality it offers would be quite a bit less than the current version, VS10.

Good luck :-)

Michaeltee,
You are correct. The installation disk came bundled with the Firewire adapter card (which also included a cable). I believe the software disk is old, because it only mentions up to the Win2000 version of Windows. Nothing about XP. The installation procedure does ask for a serial number. It is needed to complete the installation.
Do you, or anyone, have access to a recent version of the complete software package for this Firewire card? I would like to download it to ensure I have everything that'll work with Win-XP.
Thanks for your insight into this problem. I hope you can give me some info about getting the updated software.
