How do I get additonal menu templates
I have studio nine (upgraded from eight). There are several categoies of menus, but each category only has one template. I'm guessing you have to pay for additonal ones, but I can't find the page on the Ulead site to order them. Could someone post the link. thanks.

Wait a second-- in this post I read that VS10 has only a dozen menus?
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 3377#63377
Can someone clarify this? I'm evaluating Vegas, Premiere Elements, and VS10+ , and ready-made/modifiable menus do make a difference--as does what I have to do (or pay) to get more menus. It sounds as if VS10+ is really a $180 package (VS10+ and PI) assuming you aren't going to use the same 12 menus.

I may be wrong but It seems to me that more than 12 menu templates were included with VS10+. For example, I count 5 "Smart Scene" menus versus "1" as reported by another member. Unfortunately I didn't make note of the total count prior to importing all of my templates from VS9 and PS4 but hopefully someone will be along to verify this shortly.
I wasn't sure if you were aware of how easy it is to modify existing menus within the VS10+ UI. When you get to the the "Create Disc" segment of the process, select any menu from the available templates. To modify this menu, simply choose a different background image or video clip to replace the original. If you wish, you can further modify the menu by selecting a different set of navigation buttons and/or thumbnail frames. To go a step further, you can resize and/or move the chapter thumbnails and text anywhere within the template. You can also modify the font attributes and change the menu background music. All of this can be accomplished within a matter of a minute or two. As I mentioned in another posting, not long ago I ran across a 3rd party CD-ROM containing over 2000 720x480 menu and title background images for only $25. With something like this (or additional backgrounds from ANY source) the possibilities are virtually unlimited. Just my .02 worth

Hello,
Lets say we want to modify the default Smart, menu that comes with the TBYB package. It shows a screen and a Tulip in the foreground.
Q: How do you delete the Tulip?
Q: How do I change the background?
Q: How can I add a line if text (Not change the text. Add a new text box)?
I tried and I'm not getting it. I can Hide the tulip, but not delete it.

In my VS10+ boxed version - when installed direct "Out of the Box" - I have a total of 14 DVD menu templates comprising 5 'Smart Scene' menus, 5 'Thumbnail' menus and four 'Text' Menus. Might not sound very much on the face of it but when I look at the amount of customisation available for each of those I can see a very large number of possible alternative menus available to me.
Mike-Mat - I don't know if the TBYB version is that much different to the full version but I couldn't find a menu with a Tulip on in my selection - I did find one with a Lily on which I was able to hide - by choosing the 'Edit' tab above the menu template library then choosing "Customise" and then selecting the object, HIDE / DELETE - whats in a word - the effect is the same.
The background I changed by clicking on the little screen under "Background image/video" and browsing to a picture on my hard drive and selecting it.
You cannot add another line of text within VideoStudio - but since the templates are .ufo files I would assume you could modify the templates in Photo Impact the same as you could in previous versions of VideoStudio.
I'm off now to import all my menu templates from V8 and V9

having posted the above an hour or so ago - i thought I'd just come back to say I have been very pleasantly surprised after moving a few menu templates from V9 into the V10 folders to find that I can customise even the menus from V9 - by that I mean actually move thumbnails around the screen and move and ROTATE all the text (all - including 'My Title') and further you can resize all the thumbnails - all within the 'Create Disc' function of V10+. - this of course in addition to the changing of background image/video and background music. - and then add the new template back into the template 'Gallery' for future use - I think there's more than enough there for me.

Yes, I see that. I appreciate your correction. I'm getting a copy of PI10 (heavily discounted, $36) and someone else pointed me to a few free templates on the Ulead site. I don't quite get why Ulead got so coy with the templates--it seems like a small thing to toss in for the benefit users would get from it. I went back through all the other products I've been trying, and they all do better on menus but worse on everything else... maybe Ulead will get wise and offer more templates as free downloads. Since they're in a proprietary Ulead format, it's not like people can easily use them with anything else... and menu choices make a difference in DVD creation. I'd bet adding a menu (with chapters) is the single most used enhancement in DVD creation.Ken Berry wrote:kgs -- just a clarification on the number I posted. The original query from wonhead related to VS9 and not 10. The number I posted (81) thus relates to VS9 and not VS10 (which, as you will have seen from subsequent posts in this thread, are far fewer).

Ditto what kgs said.
Brian: Tried to edit the menu we discussed. You can Hide but NOT delete the Lilly (not the tulip). There IS a big difference. I need to Delete it. Otherwise it's on every menu page. And you cant even change those graphics. The Lilly is always there, hidden or not.
I'm doing training videos. Each video need a chapter list so the user can jump back to any video, anytime he wants. If you do chapter lists I have to re-edit (Hide) the page for each menu, instead of just picking a menu and using that same template for all the menus. There is a menu that says it will do that, but it does not work. On every menu I have to hide all the crap over and over.
Another thing is if I have more than 3 videos, it puts the additional videos on another page. You only get 3 shoices on the menu. There's no way to add more menu choices.
I really like the editing features of VS10. I feel like i'm flying thru my project, until I have to creat the menus for the final burn.
I might just do the menus in Nero. I think they have a better menu creation tools.

I'm glad to see my post generated some additional related topics.
Regarding my original question, one reply said the additonal menus for v.9 should be on the second disk. Well, I did upgrade over the web many months ago. I have two files, uvs9_upg_na__e__RTM.exe and uvs9_tbyb_e_ulus.exe I clicked on both and neither one makes it obvious that they are giong to install only extra content. Can anyone tell me if I'm missing a file, or if I should execute one of the above files and it will allow me to install just the extra content and not reinstall the whole app?
