Are potential VS10 users so impoverished that the bonus of a blanket will be the deciding factor on whether they upgrade or not? You should have taken my dig at that offer in the spirit that much of what I post is intended. Even when I'm truly upset at something I always try to interject a little sarcasm into my posts to take the edge off. You of all people should know that. Anyway, this is nothing to take so seriously. Carry on, and I'll try to be more sensitive to your delicate sensibilities in the future (see, there I go again! I just can't help myself).  :D
Never mind  it wasn't so obvious to me 8) but you can call me stupid and we call it quits :)

By the way, with my hint, I wasn't thinking about that "silly" blanket either :D It certainly wouldn't make me buy something I don't want.

And, as you so clearly stated, I should have read between the lines and understood the sarcastically phrased joke. I certainly copped a lot flak at times when I'm my old sarcastic self. Peace :D

A SmartScene menu could best be described as a collection of ordinary one thumbnail menus. Picture it like this. We have created a menu that has one thumbnail on the left of the screen and four links on the right. For clarity we will call these
Link One
Link Two
Link Three
Link Four
Below this are the usual navigation buttons for next previous home and play.

Now think of 4 Menus that all look identical.
We will call them Menu 1, Menu 2, Menu 3, Menu 4

Menu 1.
The thumbnail will play something associated with Link One.
Link One will call up the event for that link. The event can either be to start the video playing from a chapter point, or the event could be calling up a 'Chapter menu.'

Link Two will bring up Menu 2
Link Three will bring up Menu 3
Link Four will bring up Menu 4

Menu 2.
The thumbnail will play something associated with Link Two.
Link One will bring up Menu 1

Link Two will call up the event for that link. The event can either be to start the video playing from a chapter point, or the event could be calling up a 'Chapter menu.'

Link Three will bring up Menu 3
Link Four will bring up Menu 4

Menu 3.
The thumbnail will play something associated with Link Three.
Link One will bring up Menu 1
Link Two will bring up Menu 2

Link Three will call up the event for that link. The event can either be to start the video playing from a chapter point, or the event could be calling up a 'Chapter menu.'

Link Four will bring up Menu 4

Menu 4.
The thumbnail will play something associated with Link Three.
Link One will bring up Menu 1
Link Two will bring up Menu 2
Link Three will bring up Menu 3

Link Four will call up the event for that link. The event can either be to start the video playing from a chapter point, or the event could be calling up a 'Chapter menu.'

Regarding the question of which deal is best. That is a matter of personal choice. what may suit one person may not suit another. For example what would be the point of purchasing a VideoStudio with PhotoImpact bundle if you already own one of them.

It's a bit like going to the supermarket and choosing which loaf of bread to buy from a range including white, brown, wholemeal, sliced, unsliced and so on.

interesting - Chritmas promo code works on discounted downlo

Post by KimES »

Hey All, Currently downloading my new purchase. Here's a bit of info to share - the bonus coupon code ( 2006merryXmas - 10% off) listed on the website works on the discounted special offer downloads.

It says the 10% download discount is not available with other special offers. It seemed that would disqualify the combo packs as they're listed under the subtitle "This Week's Special Offers". BUT, I entered the coupon at checkout, and sure enough, it works!

Steve - sorry about the "sliced bread" question. :-} I was thinking more along the lines of you guys knowing the products and what's actually in the bundles. Also, thanks for the explanation on the menus.

Well, looking forward to working with the Ulead programs. I've tested a lot of software and do quite a bit of programming. However, have never tried anything from Ulead before.

Thanks again for your help - Kim

Installing Ulead 'Extras'

Post by Delboy »

I have been following this thread in the hope that it would shed some light on how to install the various feature and expansion packs Ulead provide for VS10 as I assumed additional DVD menu templates were included but could never see any additions within VS?

Ulead have always provided these in the same confusing (well to me they are confusing) format being that some run an installation program that adds features to VS whilst others just unpack the download file then require you to manually move the content into the appropriate folder.

I find placing all the various extras into the correct folders confusing Am I missing something really simple? All I want to do is install the additional packs and have the new templates, menus etc appear in the appropriate locations in VS?
