problems creating new block color in VS9

Post by sakeynes »

Hi guys,

When I create a new block color, eg red, VS9 puts up a small window (titled 'New colour clip') asking for the RGB values. I type in '255' for pure red, and then click 'ok' and it says:

Colour has been changed by a filter
RGB (255,0,0) => RGB (132,0,0)

WHY!? What's wrong with pure red!? Where is the filter that is changing it!? I get similar problems when trying to change text colours etc. But I can't find the location or settings or anthing about this 'filter'.

I tried searching for an answer all through the forum but couldn't find anything, can someone please help?

Regards,

Hi Stuart,

I've seen this numerous times, and for the most part ignore it. The filter is probably the PAL in your case, Safe Color Filter. If you press F6 (File>Preferences), then go to the Edit Tab, you should see an option to Apply Color Filter: NTSC or PAL. Do you have that checked? If so try unchecking it and see if you get the same results..

Thanks Ron, that seems to have fixed the problem. What the color filter actually does that is useful is still beyond me, but then some things in VS9 are like that!
