George,
The easiest reproducible case I have is:-
1) import a scene from Camcorder DVD into VS10+ library, or import MPEG into library
2) Drag onto timeline and Play in 'clip' mode - sound is fine
3) click 'project' and play the same (instant playback selected) - sound very crackly
4) switch to 'share' screen, 'create video file', select DVD-PAL to create an MPEG file
5) playback the created MPEG file (in Windows Media Player, or anything else) - crackles/popping in sound file.
As far as I'm aware, the sound should only be encoded the one time, when creating the output MPEG.
Thanks.

Here's what I'm doing: I need to capture the screen of a DOS application and I narrate what I'm doing. The video is output to my PVR (Toshiba) and my audio mixer is also going straight into the PVR at the same time. Im recording in one take. I output the video in DVD format (on a DVD-R) and move that into my PC (VS10) doing a "Capture from DVD". The audio sounds great.
On a couple of videos I did have to add or edit in some new narration. The new audio was recorded into VS10. I did not change any settings (deafults) . I just recorded it in the right place, adjusted the volume ( to match the previous narration).

Re: VS10 Sound Problem on playback

When I playback clips in 'clip' mode, the sound is fine. When I playback clips in 'project' mode I get a lot of crackling (breakup). If I go on to generate an mpeg file from the share menu, the sound is a lot better, but still crackles.
All my editing is done from PAL mpeg2 (not AVI), as I have a DVD Camcorder.
I had VS9 previously, and never encountered this one.
Any assistance appreciated.
I have just purchased VS10 Plus and had the same problem after multitrimming video segments from a camera.
Tried "Share - Create Video File" which fixed the problem - perfect playback.. I have then finished the editing in this file.
Have not yet burnt the project so hope it willl work!

Audio flickering
Hi
I am new user
I have the same problem, when i capture on dvd mode the playback is good, after editing, audio flickering or popping on preview mode or burning dvd (not the voice but the music flicker).
The difference for me is the change of capture mode: if i change on mpeg mode or avi to capture, the playback and the final file is good, not popping or flickering at all.
I send a message at tecnical support for the problem on dvd capture mode and i wait a reply to solve the problem.
My Pc is Amd athlon 3200+ 2.0 ghz (2.20 orverclock) motherboard asrock 949, 1 gb ram ddr2, 256 mb ati 9550 video card, trust 511 5.1 sound card, hard disk 80 gb, win xppro sp2

With my own system, the popping noise in audio files rendered with VideoStudio 10 appears to finally be solved.
Two fixes were attempted today, one of which appears to have worked. I uninstalled an Intel program that monitors motherboard temperature, power supply voltage, etc. on a hunch. I remembered, months ago, reading at the Intel site about it creating issues with certain soundcards, so this seemed like a good place to start.
Second, I downloaded/installed the newest drivers for my Radeon All in Wonder 9600 video card.
One of the above appears to have solved the issue. The trial of VideoStudio 10 is now creating excellent quality DVD folders, with no popping noise in the completed files...if this continues, it'll be time for more credit card debt shortly. : )
Previously, the only way to create a decent sounding DVD with VideoStudio 10 was to first re-render the project files using VideoStudio 8. I was finding it impossible to edit/create project files with VideoStudio 10. The edited file would sound perfectly fine, but once it was used to create a DVD, the finished DVD would be plagued with the popping noises.
