MF5 splitting AVI into 4GB chunks even with NTFS!
MF5 splitting AVI into 4GB chunks even with NTFS!
Capturing to AVI from a DV camera. I have XP and NTFS on all partitions but for some reason, after upgrading to MF5 the AVI file, rather than being one long 13GB file for an hour capture, is split up into 4GB segments, just as if I was on FAT32 filesystem. I definitely have NTFS on all partitions. Anyone know what is going on?? Thanks
I apologise for bringing this to the top again, but I cannot find a resolution for it. Either I am doing something very stupid, for which I would not expect a reply, or none of you has experienced the problem. MF4 creates a single 13GB file on my NTFS partition, but MF5 breaks it up into 4GB chunks, as if it were a FAT filesystem. I cannot find anything in Preferences to account for this. Any help would be appreciated as I hate 'joining' files in MF as sometimes the results are unpredictable. Thanks.

Ruggy,
In MF5 I don't have the option of choosing the DV-Type 1 or 2 to capture with. Also in my version if capturing mpeg format I don't have the advanced screen to directly set the encoder settings.
Does your installation of MF5 allow you to choose DV Type 1 or DV Type 2 in the capturing module?
If capturing Mpeg format under advanced settings can you access the encorder parameters to tweak them?
If you don't have access (the same as I don't have access to these settings), then you don't know what DV codec is being used. It should be uleads. The only thing I can think of is the program isn't using Ulead's DV codec and that codec maybe can't access over 4 gigs.
Usually though codecs like that break the file into 2 gig chunks.
What are the exact properties of the 4gig DV file that you have captured?
DV Type ? OpenDML? etc.
