Post by dabear »

hey, Im using media pro 8, The video i have has the black bar untop and below the video. and media studio has its own black bars on finished videos. But thats to much for the video and make the clip rather tiny to view. How do i expand a video so only the video fits the screen?

Where did the video come from? How was it captured, what are its attributes? What is its Aspect Ratio, and how are you setting your projects up?

George
sjj That link was good also.

1. I cut it off a music video dvd. Its a full musicvideo.
2. I made it into an mpeg using studio pro 8
3.what are its attributes----> What is that?/ its in mpeg
4 it is full screen good quality
5. how are you setting your projects up? --- What do you mean?

It's like the video rip of it is in avi. I turned it to mpeg to work with it better. On the actual video it has the black bar above and below the video pictures. But then media studio added another black bar above and below the actual video's black bars. Get me? lol i just need to get rid of one of the bars.

Thanks for taking your time on this. I'm newbie to forums/video lingo.

so you've got a letterboxed video that MSP is letterboxing.

I would assume it's not widescreen since it's already letterboxed so it's probably 4:3 with the video already letterboxed. On the source and preview menu's (little icon next to the buttons) check the "non square pixels is not checked, this must be unchecked if the video is not native widescreen.

Then from your top menu click File -> Preferences -> Edit tab.

You'll see "default stretch mode". gives you three options, try "Keep aspect ratio (no letterbox) first then experiment with the other two settings.

this should get rid of the black bars.

K i just tried to do what you wrote and the black bars are still hanging around.

Do you think its cause I captured the video's wrong. Like its a dvd with music videos that I cut up into single videos. The single videos have the a single black bar but when I go to do a remix msp puts on another black bar on top of it.

Could this be happening because I already messed up?

Like is their a way to strech out the video?
I don't get what im doing wrong.

Thank you

try putting a moving path on the whole clip, and then you can stretch and expand it how you like. Even can get rid of both black bars!

I tried that and it worked. Thanks. But will I have to put a moving over each piece of video cause of those black bars. Is there an easier way to get rid of them or did i screw up the 1st time I turned the video into mpeg.

Yes, just use croping in Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8.0 before saving the video
