Weird results from burning a DMF5 project

Post by MikePH »

I don't know if anyone can help me with this but I am having difficulty burning a project in DMF5. I am trying to make a DVD of a TV programme. I have used adzapper and the multi-trim function to edit the video footage. I have previewed every bit of the project and everything is fine but, when I burn a disc, I get a very different result. First of all the sound and video are completely out of sync (the sound seems to be from a different part of the film). Then there are several commercials that I have already deleted from the project. The whole thing is just garbage. Can anyone figure out what is happening? I have tinkered with the project several times, wasted a couple of discs and also burned it to DVD folders on my hard drive but the result is still the same. All the cuts in the video are exactly where I want them but the software seems to burn a totally different version. I could start a new project and that might sort out the glitch but why should I have to do that? This never happened with DMF4 or any of the other versions that I have had.

Please tell us something about your file format, and how you captured it. The Read Me First... post at the top of the forum tells you what we need to know in order to help you.

From the symptoms, I'll bet you're editing MPEGs... BAD!!!! Sync problems are pretty commn with (edited) MPEGs. Other problem is a bit strange, but ALL of my weird problems have been with MPEGs.

Thanks for the response. All I have done is import a DVD+RW of a TV programme (PAL) into DMF5 (which I have done several times with DMF4) and then edited the resulting MPEG using the multi-trim and ad-zapper functions. As I said in the original post, the sound is not just out of sync, it seems to come from a totally different part of the video. Also there are ads that I have deleted that have reappeared and the programme cuts off early. As I also said in the original post, I have previewed all of the final project and it is fine. Another odd thing is that I have used one of the smartscene menus and, when I click to begin the video, it begins not at the start but where the smartscene video leaves off (in the project preview this does not happen).

Mike PH...You've beat me to it! I have exactly the same problem. The result bears no resembance to what I had edited. Sound out od sync, sound from ...wherever, and all the bits I had cut out, still there!

Like you I have successfully done this sort of project on DVDMF4 and been pleased with the results.

The original DVD (recorded on TV) loads perfectly, but after that, mayhem. Have I just wasted my hard earned cash?
