Problem ulead videostudio dv -> dvd

Post by nl1bzw »

Hello,

Last week i bought a camcorder (HDR-HC3) so i wanted to try ulead videostudio to edit film.

Now the problem:

I copied some DV films from my camcorder to my pc.

When i convert the DV to a MPEG-2 file (7 mbit video, 384 kbps geluid, lower field first, 25 frames) on my harddisk i got no problems, the screen is going smooth.

But when i make a DVD from it with exactly the same configuration it's not really going smooth anymore but it's stuttering a bit.

Because i thought it could be the dvd i made an image from the DVD, but i still got the same problems when i run it from my harddisk.

Anyone has any idear what this can be?

See HD Tutorial for step by step procedure for capturing, editing, and creating high definition video files with the HC1 and HC3 http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=9854

If you are indeed just shooting standard definition video with the HC3, follow the recommended procedure in the top sticky post. You may not be setting the burn properties manually.

When you make the DVD, is the program re-encoding a compliant mpeg2 file? How long is the video, and how long to create the DVD Folders to your hard drive?

Your problem may well begin with the assumption that video property management is "Automatic" in Video Studio - it isn't. Did you set the Burn properties manually?

It takes about 30 minutes to render 20 minutes of dv video.

I tried automatic. I tried lower field first. i tried upper field first. i tried frame-based. i tried various bitrates. i tried various different audio.

so almost everything.

the strange thing is that pinnacle doesn't have the problem.

If your Mpeg2 video file plays back properly and your DVD does not, you may not have set the BURN properties to match the video file properties. Read the section on setting the BURN PROPERTIES in the Recommended Procedure in the top sticky post.

Burned the DVD with exactly the same properties as the MPEG2 file what was running without problems, but it doesn't matter if i run an image from it or if i burn a DVD. The problem is still there.

Already thought about that :)
