I installed VS10Plus Trial and hooked up my Sony DCR-IP5 MicroMV camera and launced VS10 using the Movie Wizard. Now I saw video for a second from my camera but when I start to captuer video I get a popup...
ULEAD CAPTURE PLUG-IN
Previewing of the video will stop due to differences in the formats (HDV and DV) of the video in the tape. Turn off then turn on your device to resume previewing.
This happens everytime I try to capture video even after power cycling both the camera and the PC.
What's the problem? and how do I transfer the video off this camera to my PC?
HDV Capture Plug-in

Your camera is not HDV
Here is a qote from reviews of your camera.
"The camcorder comes with Movieshaker, Sony's consumer video editing software. Although the camcorder uses Firewire, it's not compatible with existing Firewire. The camcorder can connect to computers using existing Firewire ports, but only Sony's Movieshaker software can recognize the software. Existing video capture programs are not able to record the special MicroMV Firewire. The MicroMV Firewire also can not transfer video to and from existing Firewire camcorders and decks.
You cannot capture with VS10.

Your Sony DCR-IP5 records in mpeg2 standard definition, rather than the DV compression used for most other camcorders. My guess is that VS10+ thinks that the IP5 is a malfunctioning Sony HC1 or HC3, which encode high definition video in Mpeg2.
If the IP5 came with any software, I would try capturing with that. Then, you should be able to edit the mpeg2 video files directly in VS10 and then smart render DVD compliant video files that you can then burn on DVDs.
